We understand cancer treatment can be difficult and uncomfortable.  Sometimes it is the little things that help you get through a difficult time.

The Dempsey Center’s mission is to make life better for people managing the impact of cancer.

Our dedicated volunteers create a selection of items to make your journey more comfortable.  If you feel you would benefit from one of these comfort items, please fill out the form below.

A Dempsey Center staff member will reach out to you and help arrange picking up your item at either our Lewiston or South Portland location.

Dempsey Center Comfort Items

All our comfort items are handmade with
care by Dempsey Center Volunteers.

Quilts/Knitted Blankets:
Stay warm during treatment
or while at home.

Port Protectors:
Use on your car’s seat belt to
protect your chemo port from harm.

Heart Pillows:
Use under the arm after surgery,
place the crook under the back of the neck,
or squeeze to help alleviate pain
while coughing.

Chemo Caps:
Keep your head covered and/or warm
when experiencing hair loss.

Rice Heat Packs:
Heat in the microwave and
use to ease pain and discomfort.

Knitted Knockers:
Handmade breast prosthesis for use
after mastectomies or other procedures of the breast.

Frozen Soups:
When chewing and swallowing are difficult
or appetite is poor, stay nourished
with these blended soups made with
produce from the Dempsey Garden.
